Key Responsibilities of the SMH Level 1 RN Psych ER

• Conduct intake assessments through patient and relative interviews to gather case histories
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients
• Diagnose the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design treatment plans
• Administer and note reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications
• Arrange further medical attention when necessary
• Assist clients in understanding and accepting the need for treatment
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients
• Test for vital signs of pain and ensure appropriate treatments
• Document patient information on medical charts and follow physician's orders
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records of treatments, immunizations, and lab results
• Perform administrative assignments like filing, answering phones, and completing progress notes
• Provide high-quality, courteous service and appropriate referrals as needed

Requirements of the SMH Level 1 RN Psych ER

• New York RN License
• BLS Certification (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
